StarHub's Q2 profit dented by smart phones, FIFA
StarHub Ltd reported on Thursday that its net profit for the second quarter of 2010 fell 25.4 per cent from a year ago to S$58.1 million. The telco's bottomline was dented by the continued investment in iPhones and other smart phones/devices in the mobile business.
On the pay TV business, the broadcast of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in June was a key event in the quarter.
'Both of these activities contributed to the higher operating revenue and expenses for the quarter and half year periods,' StarHub said.
Operating revenue was up 6.9 per cent at S$569.3 million. Both mobile and Pay TV services contributed to the bulk of the service revenue increase year-on-year.
