Brazil 2014 fifa world cup Workers to be given free tickets
All of the workers who helped build or renovate World Cup stadiums will receive tickets to a World Cup game. According to FIFA, a total of 60,000 Category 4 tickets, which are between R$60 (US$28) and R$330 (US$151) depending on the stage of the tournament, will be distributed.
During its visits to Porto Alegre and Cuiabá, the FIFA committee held ceremonies featuring a symbolic delivery of the tickets to workers.
“I was a little nervous, because it was the first time I’ve been next to a famous soccer player,” said assembler Antônio da Graça, who along with assistant Hozianos da Costa accepted the symbolic tickets and were introduced to soccer stars Bebeto and Ronaldo.
In Cuiabá, assembler Durval Fernando da Silva and electrical foreman Kel William dos Santos represented the 1,750 workers who will receive tickets at Arena Pantanal.
“It’ll be a real thrill to watch a match in the stadium that we helped to build from the beginning,” Silva said.
FIFA also provided the Federal Government with 50,000 tickets to be distributed among the beneficiaries of the Bolsa Família (Family Grant) social program and the country’s indigenous.
