44th position for NIGERIA SUPER EAGLES in FIFA ranking
The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Thursday moved a step up in the latest FIFA ranking, which place her in the 44th position from 45th in last month’s ranking.However, the Super Eagles remain sixth in Africa, with Cote D’Ivoire ranked number one.
Egypt is 24th in the world, followed by Algeria in 25th, Ghana in 38th, Cape Verde in 42nd, Tunisia in 49th, Cameroon in 50th, Guinea in 51st and Mali in 59th.
Bafana Bafana had improved in the latest FIFA rankings, moving up one spot from 66th to 65th, the Soccer-Laduma website reports.
Since the start of year, Bafana had plunged 11 places in the rankings from 54th in January to their current 65th position.
On the continent, South Africa is in 14th spot, while the Ivory Coast still remain the highest ranked African nation in the world rankings, at 21st.
Spain still sit at the summit of the rankings with Germany in second, Portugal third, 2014 World Cup host, Brazil in fourth, Colombia fifth, Uruguay sixth, Argentina seventh, Switzerland eighth, Italy ninth and Greece completing the top 10 teams in the world.
CAF’s top 5 consists of leader Ivory Coast, followed by Egypt in second spot, Algeria in third, Ghana in fourth, and the Cape Verde Islands wrapping up the top five in Africa.
